Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the AnkiBoost application ("App"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not download, install, or use our App.

2. Service Description

AnkiBoost is a flashcard-based spaced repetition learning application. The App allows users to create, manage, and review flashcards using scientifically-backed scheduling algorithms. The App is available on iOS and the web.

3. Account Registration

You may create an account using:

  • Email address and password
  • Apple Sign-In
  • Google Sign-In
  • Microsoft Sign-In

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Subscription Terms

AnkiBoost offers optional subscription plans for premium features. Core flashcard creation and review features are available without a subscription.

  • Billing: Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store.
  • Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the rate of your selected plan.
  • Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings (Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will continue to have access to premium features until the end of your paid period.
  • Price Changes: Subscription prices are displayed in the App and may vary by region. Price changes will be notified in advance and require your consent where required by applicable law.
  • Restore Purchases: You can restore previously purchased subscriptions by tapping "Restore Purchases" on the subscription screen.
  • Refunds: Refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policy.

5. End User License Agreement (EULA)

Your use of the App is also governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (EULA), available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and Apple's Standard EULA, Apple's Standard EULA shall prevail with respect to the licensed application.

6. User Content

  • You retain ownership of all flashcard content, decks, and notes you create.
  • You are solely responsible for the content you create within the App.
  • We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content.
  • You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, sync, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

7. Intellectual Property

The App and its entire contents, features, and functionality (including but not limited to all information, software, text, displays, images, and the design, selection, and arrangement thereof) are owned by AnkiBoost and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to use AnkiBoost's trademarks, logos, or other distinctive brand features.

8. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any illegal purpose.
  • Modify, disassemble, decompile, or reverse engineer the App, except to the extent that such restriction is expressly prohibited by law.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our servers or systems.
  • Distribute malware or harmful content through the App.
  • Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the App.
  • Resell or redistribute the App or its content.
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or other malicious code.

9. Third-Party Services

The App may use third-party services (including Apple App Store, RevenueCat, and authentication providers). You acknowledge that we are not responsible for the practices of these third-party services. Your use of such services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

10. Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy, available at https://ankiboost.com/privacy, describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using the App, you consent to the practices described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ANKIBOOST DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE ANY SPECIFIC LEARNING OUTCOMES OR RESULTS FROM USING THE APP.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL ANKIBOOST BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SUBSCRIPTION IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES OR THE LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CERTAIN TYPES OF DAMAGES. THEREFORE, SOME OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. Upon termination:

  • You may export your data before account deletion.
  • We will delete your data within 30 days of account termination.
  • All provisions of these Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, and limitations of liability.

14. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice through:

  • In-app notifications
  • Email notification (if applicable)

Continued use of the App after modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the new Terms, please stop using the App.
