By downloading, accessing, or using our App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not access or use our App.

3.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email Address — Used for account registration and authentication.
  • Display Name — If provided through third-party sign-in services.
  • Third-Party Identifiers — When you sign in via Apple, Google, or Microsoft, we receive a unique user identifier and, depending on your settings, your name and email address as authorized by you during the sign-in process.

3.2 Learning Data

  • Card Review History — Your spaced repetition review records and scheduling data.
  • Study Statistics — Session duration, card counts, and learning progress.
  • User-Created Content — Decks, cards, and notes you create within the App.

3.3 Device & Diagnostic Information

  • Device Information — Device model, operating system version, and app version for diagnostics and compatibility.
  • Anonymous Identifiers — RevenueCat and system frameworks may collect anonymous device identifiers (such as Identifier for Vendor) for subscription management and analytics. We do not collect the Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
  • Log Data — Server access logs may include IP addresses, timestamps, and request metadata for security and troubleshooting purposes.

3.4 Subscription Information

  • Purchase Receipts — Processed by Apple App Store and RevenueCat for subscription validation.
  • Subscription Status — Active, expired, or cancelled status synced via RevenueCat.
  • We do not store your payment card details or billing information.

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide the Service: Authenticate your identity, manage your account, and deliver core App functionality.
  • Cloud Sync: Synchronize your decks, cards, and review progress across devices.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

  • Local Storage: Your decks, cards, and review data are stored on your device.
  • Cloud Storage: When you sign in, data is synced to our server for cross-device access. Our server is hosted on a VPS located in the United States.
  • Subscription Data: Managed by Apple App Store and RevenueCat.
  • Encryption: All network communication uses HTTPS encryption. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device.

We implement reasonable and appropriate security measures to protect your personal information. However, no internet or electronic storage system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy:

  • Account Data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
  • Learning Data: Retained while your account is active and deleted upon account deletion.
  • Server Logs: Retained for up to 90 days for security and troubleshooting, then automatically purged.
  • Subscription Records: Retained as required by Apple and RevenueCat for transaction verification.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence (including the United States, where our server is located). We take steps to ensure that your information receives an adequate level of protection regardless of where it is processed.

All users have the right to:

  • Export your data (decks and cards).
  • Delete your account and all associated data through the account settings in the App.
  • Correct inaccurate information in your profile.

  • Restrict or object to certain processing of your data.
  • Request portability of your data.
  • Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent).
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

You have the right to:

  • Know what personal information is collected, used, shared, or sold.
  • Delete personal information held by us.
  • Opt-out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
  • Non-discrimination for exercising your rights.

10.4 How to Exercise Your Rights

11. Account Deletion

You can delete your account directly within the App through Settings > Account > Delete Account. Upon deletion:

  • All personal data, decks, cards, and review history will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.
  • Local data on your device can be removed by uninstalling the App.
  • Subscription billing is managed separately by Apple — please cancel your subscription through your Apple ID settings before deleting your account.
  • Certain data may be retained if required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention), but only for the minimum period necessary.

12. Children's Privacy

AnkiBoost is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected], and we will take steps to delete such information.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy. Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notification. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
